Race to the Top SAT Day

We recently had another very successful SAT School Day! SAT School Day is a unique and exciting opportunity for students across the Road Map Region to take the SAT for free, during the school day, in the familiar setting of their own school. It is funded through Race to the Top’s Project 7 (Adopt the College Board College & Career Readiness Pathway), and helps ensure that every student will have the opportunity to apply to a four year college, if they choose to do so in their senior year. SAT School Day for Federal Way, Highline, Renton and Seattle was February 25. (Auburn, Kent and Tukwila have SAT School Day on April 15.) For more information, please see the full press release.

Tukwila SD Invites Families to Kindergarten Registration Event

Tukwila School District invited families in their area with children who will be 5 by August 31, 2015 to come to Showalter Middle School on March 13 and 14, for their annual district-wide registration event. Early kindergarten registration, a key strategy in the region’s Race to the Top Start Strong work, is critical for several reasons; chief among them is laying the foundation for positive and ongoing relationships between schools and families. To help eliminate the opportunity gap and ensure success for each child, PSESD, in partnership with school districts in the South King County region, is helping increase school readiness for students and families by developing strategies that span the entire spectrum of support.
